The World Luxury Hotel Awards are accepted as the pinnacle of achievement for Luxury Hotels worldwide. This Award was established as a celebration of ultimate achievement in hoteliering.
It is about congratulating hotels that have taken the extra step & such differentiated themselves from “great hotels” to “exceptional hotels”.
We are ecstatic & thrilled that Didimala was counted amongst extraordinary international products which included the Hilton Resort & Spa – Mauritius, Le Tre Vaselle Country Hotel in Italy, Paris Hotel Le Bristol - France, Pezula Resort Hotel – SA, Hotel Lebua at State Tower – Bankok, Keating Hotel & Conference Centre – USA, Sabi Sabi Private Game Lodge – SA, Royal Madikwe Safari Residence – SA, Warwick Resort & Spa – Fiji and many other international Hotels, Resorts & Spas established in the Maldives, Italy, Turkey, France, United Arab Emirates, Mexico & Greece, to name but a few, all competing for the different categories in the international Luxury Hotel industry.
Didimala Game Lodge attended The World Luxury Hotel Awards Gala Event on 18 October at the Lanzerac Spa as one of four international finalists in the “World Luxury Lodge 2008 ” category.
More than 2500 international nominations were contesting in different categories ranging from Luxury Island Resorts, Luxury Coastal Resorts & Casinos, Luxury Golf Resorts and Luxury Villa Resorts to Luxury Game Lodges.
The Award Ceremony at Lanzerac was hosted as a strictly black tie event, and the master of ceremonies, Derek Watts proved to be a master of suspense by drawing out final announcements right up to midnight ! |

Tension was at last relieved when he announced Didimala as the first finalist in the “World Luxury Lodge 2008” category, followed by the names of the excellent David Livingston Safari Lodge & Spa in Zambia , Lake Okereka by Lebua in New Zealand and the Plumari Big 5 Eco Lodge in Magaliesberg.
The worthy winner was Chitwa Chitwa of Sabi Sands in the Kruger National Park .Winners and finalists of different categories are listed on the World Luxury Hotel Awards website and where selected from votes cast by travel industry delegates.
